Domestic Hot Water Systems:

You can use the sun’s energy to provide domestic hot water for your house. Our solar hot water systems will reduce your heating bill and benefit the environment. We offer three standard system sizes using either flat plate collectors from Sun Earth or evacuated tube collectors from Sunda. In Maine, a properly sized system will provide about 65% of your annual hot water needs (100% in the summer months, and 50% in the winter months.) We frequently combine our solar hot water systems with efficient Luna boilers. Call or email for more information about solar hot water heating

The illustration below will give you an idea of how the systems work. Call or email us to find out more about these systems.

  1. PV Panel & DC Pump. Solar energy collected by the PV panel powers the DC circulating pump.
  2. Solar Collectors. Collects the solar heat, increasing the temperature of the water within the system.
  3. Heat Exchange Tank. Solar heated water is circulated through the heat exchange tank.
  4. Water supply. Cold well or city water enters the heat exchange tank and is preheated.
  5. Hot Water Heater. Preheated water enters the home's hot water heater and the temperature of the water is raised if necessary.
